In this blog, I break down six different ways to make money using your technical skills, starting with the simplest options you can use inside your current job and gradually moving towards freelancing, consulting, teaching and eventually building an audience online. I’ve personally tried all six of these paths over the course of my career. I started in a corporate job, did freelancing, worked with consulting clients, taught at institutes, built a YouTube channel and eventually started running Goodly. So this video is really the conversation I would have with you if we sat down for coffee and you asked me, “How can I make more money with the technical skills I already have?” For each level, I talk about how to get started, the strategy I would follow, how difficult it is, how long it may take to see results and the kind of earning potential it can create. We also talk about career growth, moving from technical work towards business roles, freelancing through platforms like Upwork and Fiverr, finding consulting clients in your own local market, teaching technical skills and building an online audience through YouTube and content.
